Whiting is the largest section of Manchester by far, home to about three quarters of residents. The township is one of the oldest in New Jersey by age, with roughly half of residents 65 or older as of 2010.
Manchester's 55 and over communities include Crestwood Village (sections 1 through 7), Leisure Village West, Leisure Knoll, Cedar Glen Lakes, Pine Ridge at Crestwood, Renaissance and River Pointe. There's no highway in Manchester itself. Routes 70 and 37 are the main roads, and Parkway access is in Toms River, Berkeley or Lacey, with Interstate 195 up in Jackson. The township also wraps all the way around the separate borough of Lakehurst.
The township's Public Works and Utilities page has bulk, leaf and recycling schedules. Water and sewer in much of town come from the township's own Division of Utilities, and electric is JCP&L.
The Manchester Township School District runs the public schools, and Lakehurst sends its high schoolers to Manchester Township High School.
